2nd Meeting of AmCham Security Working Group
Enterprise Data Security Discussed

During the meeting Peteris Kokovkins of Baltic Technology Group gave a presentation on “Internal threats: Enterprise information protection”. Peteris explored ways how to protect company’s sensitive information from leakage. “Information leakage is usually accidental and performed by company’s own employees. The perfect fraud is when victims are completely unaware that their sensitive information has been stolen”, he said. Peteris presented several solutions available in the market which can prevent company from data loss.

Konrads Smelkovs of KPMG Baltics gave a presentation on “External threats: Social engineering attack vectors”. According to Kondrads, “social engineering is about lying to a person in order to get information.” He suggested two-step action plan how to assess external threats:
1)     Identify what information is valuable to you and to the attacker,
2)     Train your employees.
Konrads explained some easy ways how to spot a social engineer.

The group discussed potential future topics relevant to the larger business community, such as E-health, Business Continuity, Social Engineering, ID card implementation and Cloud Computing.
