Many ways to help SOS community

SOS Childrens' Villages in Latvia have completed several projects and activities with the generous support of AmCham members. Children had a chance to play sports and games with Microsoft and AON teams. CBRE established sandplay therapy room for SOS children in Islice. With the support of SEB bank the campaign "Because he/she has YOU" was held this spring and summer, encouraging regular contributions to SOS families.

Russian version of Manabalss.lv created

Skrivanek Baltic participated in the creation of the Russian language version of the website Manabalss.lv.

This year WLEIF brought together around 300 participants from 17 countries and was seen online by people from nearly 40 countries. AmCham was among the partners of WLEIF 2015 holding a session on doing business with North America.

Cargo transportation Survey

AECOM and KPMG on behalf of Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia are conducting a survey about the modes of transport currently used for moving freight to/ from or through Latvia.

US Senate approves Trade Promotion Authority

The US Senate passed legislation granting Trade Promotion Authority ("fast-track") to the US President. Many business organizations, including the US Chamber and AmChams in Europe believe the legislation is critical to the success of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreements.

AmCham held a luncheon with the US business delegation from Cleveland, Ohio. The event was an excellent opportunity for members to network and connect with various American companies from industries including manufacturing, healthcare, food and transportation. The panel, made up of both young and established companies, shared their views about entering and succeeding in the US market as well as some challenges encountered.

The people are who really matter

Jurmalas aizsardzibas biedriba, Ikskiles Briva Skola, RMHC Latvija and Andris Ceksters were awarded the Human Development Award of Latvia 2015 on April 16 during the Awards Ceremony Dinner at the State Gymnasium No.2. The winners received a custom-made sculpture "Sprout" designed by artist Olga Silova, an Award certificate and other special prizes by the program partners and sponsors. AmCham together with the US Embassy and Civic Alliance of Latvia hosted the Human Development Awards for the 2nd consecutive year.
