Data Security Solutions & Task Analytics win Bowling Cup
50 participants in 12 teams competed for prizes at the AmCham Bowling Tournament at Pepsi Center. The title of the best team, Cup Trophy and great prizes went to the team combined of two companies Data Security Solutions and Task Analytics. Best Male Player was Guntis Beļavskis of Citadele banka and best Female Player of the tournament was Anastasija Fila of Grand Hotel Kempinski. Vismands Menjoks of Apply was first to get three strikes in a row. Congratulations to the winners!

Premiere of L’INCANTESIMO. PAGLIACCI
On February 21, AmCham members and friends spent an opening night of the new production of two operas "L’incantesimo.Pagliacci" by Italo Montemezzi and Ruggero Leoncavallo at the Latvian National Opera with an exclusive reception at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga. More than 80 people attended this highly popular program.

A year in review: 35 speakers, 43 events, 2834 attendees
2018 has been an extremely productive year for AmCham, continuing to serve our members in providing access, network and visibility. 43 events were held from our popular programs to new initiatives such as the Latvian-American Innovation Award and trainings for the professional development of members. Based on your feedback, we have built closer cooperation with the fellow chambers in the region by offering joint meetings. Our events attracted 2834 attendees, 35 speakers, 27 sponsors and 53 in-kind sponsors.

Welcome Riga Graduate School of Law
Riga Graduate School of Law, a specialized law school, has joined the Chamber as a Non-profit member. RGSL offers interdisciplinary bachelor and masters programs in law, allowing engaged and curious students to combine their law studies with courses in business, international relations, finance and diplomacy.

Cognizant named Digital Services Firm of the Year
Cognizant's delivery center in Riga has been recognized as the Digital Services Firm of the Year in Central and Eastern Europe during the annual CEE Shared Services Summit and Awards, held in Warsaw, on January 31st. Cognizant Latvia is the latest edition and the first of Cognizant delivery network in Europe, where the focus area is Telecom specifically and IT in general, with the ability to deliver IT services from nearshore locations in Europe.

New website on transatlantic trade
Recently, the EU Delegation to the U.S. unveiled a new report and website to underline the importance of transatlantic trade. The EU is the U.S. largest foreign investor with nearly 7 million U.S. jobs directly created either by EU investment or trade with Europe. The U.S. and the EU enjoy a balanced trade relationship to the benefit of both: 629 billion USD EU exports of goods and services to the U.S. and 528 billion USD the U.S. exports and services to the EU.

How corporate governance impacts funding?
The results of the study by the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance (BICG) presented in the discussion organized by BICG and Finance Latvia at the end of January indicate that corporate governance practices are given up to 25 percent of weight in company credit ratings assigned by the largest banks operating in Latvia.
