Children’s Hospital Foundation helps Ukrainian children

Aug 02, 2022

In addition to ongoing long-term programs that provide support for the Children’s Clinical University Hospital patients, their families and hospital staff, the Children’s Hospital Foundation is also carrying out several other projects and initiatives to support children’s health and well-being.

Since March the Foundation has been raising donations to provide support for the refugee children and families fleeing the devastating war in Ukraine. Donations allow to provide refugee children with the same support package that is available to local children, as well as professional psychological support in the refugee centers, and help to cover the food and transportation expenses related to healthcare facility visits. Until August more than 350 refugee children and families have received support.

Other projects include:

  • initiatives to improve the state support system and social integration of children with mobility impairment, autism and underage parents;
  • introducing a new informative website - an interactive support guide for families who raise children with mobility impairment, autism and diabetes (www.atbalstacelvedis.lv);
  • raising donations for the new Mental Health Clinic and Barnahus (a program for children who have suffered abuse) that are currently in development at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital.
