European Union-U.S. Data Privacy Framework announced

Oct 12, 2022

On October 7, President Biden signed an Executive Order to implement the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which sets the legal basis on the US side for the successor agreement to the EU-US Privacy Shield. View the Fact Sheet here.

The immediate next steps are that the European Commission will issue a draft “data adequacy assessment” for the United States, which must be approved and adopted by the 27 EU member states.
