Latvian Foster Family Association (Latvijas Audžuģimeņu biedrība) is a non-governmental organization, founded in 1994 with the objective of promoting raising orphans or children left without parental care in a family environment. This year the Association celebrates 25th annniversary. It is currently comprised of 201 guardians and foster families with 346 children from different regions of Latvia.
Families with children under guardianship receive only € 45.53 per month for childcare funds, while the state or local government spends more than € 700.00 per month per child in an orphanage. It is important to support those families as much as possible.
