Can you help children see?

Aug 10, 2015

Since 2011 over 16,000 medical exams have been performed by the team of Care Mobile in Latvia. To provide quality service for one child, RMHC Latvija spends 25 euros. Every Euro is donated by supporters of the charity. You are invited to be among them!

Each year Care Mobile provides more than 1,000 eye exams to the children throughout Latvia. Unfortunately often many families cannot afford glasses and a child remains visually impaired. The Care Mobile team has a solution that would help to deal with this situation. If you have glasses, which are depreciated, but their frames are still valid, they are ready to collect them.

There is one State Children's Hospital in Latvia which hospitalizes 30 000 and examines 160 000 outpatient children. Still there are only 18 medical facilities in Latvia, where more than 85% of all medical services are provided for children.

In 2015, RMHC Latvija Care Mobile would like to focus on providing medical care to children living at the social care centers. These children are somewhat neglected by the current health care system. The fact that the state is willing to provide the care should be perceived as encouraging, not hopeless.

All services provided by the Care Mobile are free of charge for the patients. All the expenses related to its operation are covered by 100% donations funded through corporate and private supporters including: 77Agency, AmCham Latvia, Cemex, Coca-Cola HBC Latvia, DHL Latvia, Diatom Enterprises, DnB Bank, Grand Palace Hotel, International Women's Club of Riga, KPMG, LAWIN, LatRosTrans, Linstow, Microsoft, Neste Oil, Olympic Casino Latvia, Premier Restaurants Latvia, RB Management, Raidla Lejins & Norcous, Radisson Blu Hotels in Latvia, Rotary Club of Riga International, Skrivanek Baltic, AON Baltic, Merhels Revidenti Konsultanti, Volvo Trucks Latvija, USA Embassy, DiatomArt, Hotel Bergs and many others.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children around the world for almost 40 years. In 2011 RMHC Latvija launched a program called Mobile Health Care Center.

This year RMHC Latvija was awarded the Human Development Award of Latvia for exemplary contribution to health and well-being.

I look forward to promoting stronger U.S.-Latvia ties and working with AmCham members to ensure Latvia is a trusted destination for international business.
