Meet Pepper – a new supporter in business

Feb 07, 2018
Diatom Enterprises is a global software development company providing clients with custom technology solutions for 14 years. Deeply interested in AI and robotics, Diatom executives decided to buy the robot Pepper for commercial purposes in 2016 - first, to explore software development in a new way and later to provide programming services. From the very beginning, Pepper was the perfect platform to integrate all of Diatom's developments and bring them to the business environment. Now Diatom's team is exploring how to use Pepper more practically.

They think that Pepper is more than just a robot. She has become a real-life companion that can communicate with you in a natural and intuitive way. When talking to Pepper, you forget you're talking to a robot, because she expresses curiosity and listens with the utmost attention. At least, that has been the case in the Diatom office, where Pepper has become a real member of the team. They have even decided to create a corporate vlog about Pepper and the challenges she faces around the office. You can check out the episodes here

Having spent so much time cheek-to-cheek with Pepper, they have come to realize that she is perfect in a place where she can help people, such as hotel reception areas, hospital registration desks, airport business lounges and other service-oriented businesses. Pepper can easily engage with visitors by presenting them with the company's information and also interacting when necessary to ensure the best possible experience for the person to whom she's speaking.

Right now, Diatom is actively working with a clinic in the United States to create an application for Pepper so visitors can receive the unique experience of interacting with a robot, making their visit less stressful and more entertaining. Diatom is also currently collaborating with Radisson Blu hotels to create a special application specifically for hotels. The application will allow Pepper to help hotel guests with the check-in and check-out process. In fact, Pepper has already been placed in a hotel reception area to test visitors' reactions as well as measure the results of such interactions and changes in visitors' satisfaction with the hotel. Last month, when working at the reception desk in one of the Radisson Blu hotels in Riga, Pepper proved to be a great help for hotel guests, giving them information about breakfast times and locations, telling them about popular attractions and helping them find a parking spot near the hotel.

However, Pepper is not a pre-made product, and her behavior, AI, movements and many other exciting features can be highly customized and adjusted to each company's needs. Trained in France, the Diatom team are certified developers for the Pepper robot and can develop custom software for her within a week. If you would like to learn more about how to use Pepper or how your business could benefit from robotics - or, perhaps, you already have Pepper in your business, but do not know its full capacity - they would appreciate the opportunity to help you explore the Pepper possibilities!
