Rauls Velins joins the AmCham Board

Rauls Velins, General Manager of Roche Latvija has been elected to the AmCham Board of Directors by the AmCham Nominating Committee. He is replacing Dita Erna Sile who stepped down from her position on April 26. Rauls assumes the Board position immediately and will serve the remainder of Dita’s term until March 2024.

We would like to express the warmest thank you to Dita for her dedication, leadership and commitment as a Board Member over the last three years, in addition to driving the activities of the AmCham Healthcare work group's activities over the last two years.

Rauls Velins works for Roche since 1996. He became the General Manager of Roche in Latvia in 2008 concurrently serving as an Innovation and Purpose Head. He is also a Founder of Roche Latvija Innovation Incubator and leader of many co-partnering projects within the healthcare system, including “Lets save 100 Latvian Children”.

Rauls Velins graduated from Riga Medical Institute and obtained a Master's degree in medical sciences at Dundee University in Scotland and has also worked at Riga Stradins University in the Department of Internal Medicine as a lecturer and at Ventspils Central Hospital as the head of the Therapy Department.

On April 4, 2023 the President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits and the Chapter of the Order awarded Mr. Velins with the Order of the Three Stars for special merits for the benefit of the Latvian state.

According to Rauls, “It is a great honor for me to join the AmCham Board and I would like to thank the Nominating Committee for putting their trust in me. I will share my knowledge, skills, expertise, and goodwill to implement AmCham priorities in the fields of healthcare, education and science. I look forward to promoting future business cooperation between the U.S. and Latvia."
