SOS! SOS families are looking for support

Mar 27, 2020

For security reasons, families of SOS Children's Villages try to stay at home and isolate themselves. Families are forced to be away from friends and relatives. During this time, every child needs special support to handle this hard time and feel safe.

SOS moms in children's villages are with their foster children every day and night to take care of them, reduce stress and anxiety. They can only do their job with the continued support of many people and organizations.

Currently, SOS Children's Villages are looking for following goods:

  • Respirators/face masks/shields, gloves and disinfectants for social workers who are visiting families during crises
  • Food basket for families (Rice, buckwheat, oatmeal, sugar, oil, canned meat, etc.)
  • Medical expenses for one SOS family (6 children) for one month
  • Sport equipment (table tennis, table hockey, table football) for Jelgava Youth House as well as for children from Support centers for foster families, guardians and adoptive parents
  • Children also need any computer equipment

You are welcome to donate above mentioned goods or support SOS Children's Villages by a donation.

Support to families with over 400 children is taking place in 3 Family Support centers.

SOS Children's Villages is leading also maternity program - support to newborns, prevention program in kindergartens, special program for teenagers, grieving program for children who lost their beloved ones as well as running 5 Support centres for foster families, guardians and adoptive parents in Riga, Bauska, Valmiera, Kuldīga and Gulbene.
