On 10 June, in assessing the efforts of companies in creating a favourable working environment for employees and their families, the RoL Ministry of Welfare awarded the most family-friendly Latvian companies the recognition of "Family-Friendly Merchant". This is the fifth time Nordea Bank has received this recognition.
This year 11 Latvian companies in different sectors received the award, which is granted to employers with family-friendly operation policies and services. Among the most family-friendly companies Cemex, Nordea Bank and SEB bank were named.
"In thinking about successful business and company achievements, the most important "link" in the company's everyday activity is undeniably its people. The motivation and dedication of our employees is directly reflected in the company's business indicators; therefore, it is important to ensure relationships based on mutually beneficial conditions. The balance between work and leisure, which determines both employee motivation and their daily performance, is a particularly important aspect in motivating employees. The main benefits the bank offers its employees are flexible working hours for certain groups of employees, which are gladly used by employees with young families, additional days off, as well as participation in different sports or entertainment activities organised or financed by the bank. This status certifies our efforts in thinking about the well-being of employees in everyday life," commented Zigmārs Valtmanis, Head of Nordea Bank Human Resources Department.
About the initiative "Family-Friendly Merchant":
To promote the strengthening of family values in society and improve the living and working environment for families, the Ministry of Welfare assesses companies, awarding them the status of a "Family-Friendly Merchant". The main criteria are the effective orientation of the employer to balancing work and family life, ensuring flexible working hours and health protection in the workplace, as well as ensuring support to activities devoted to children and families and participating in charity campaigns. The status of a "Family-Friendly Merchant" is awarded to companies whose operation policies promote a living and working environment that is suitable for families.
