Jānis Bordāns has joined the Chamber as an Individual member. He has graduated from the Latvian University Faculty of Law in 1992. Since 1996 to present Janis has legal practice as Attorney at Law, Partner at Law Office „Wall" (former "Bordans & Belyaev"), mainly in General Corporate law, Intellectual property, Competition law and public procurement issues. He also has a long arbitrator work experience. During his career, Mr. Bordāns has also been a member of the Latvia's Parliament (1993-1995), Parliamentary Secretary and Advisor for legal issues of the Prime Minister (2010), Parliamentary Secretary for Minister of Justice and for the period from 2012 to 2014 - Latvian Minister of Justice. Mr. Bordāns has worked as an expert in working groups of Latvian government on amendments to the legislation on Intellectual property protection. He is an author of publications on legal issues in Latvian periodicals and electronic media, co-author of the book "Copyright in the Information Society" www.e-elgar.com, edited by B.Lindner and T.Shapiro and published by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2011.
