On April 27 the Riga Business School and the American and Norwegian Chambers of Commerce in Latvia held the second annual Business And Talent Forum. This year's focus was on what future talents expect from companies, how to engage them and what are their values as representatives of the millennial generation.

 
 
Prime Minister outlines key priorities

About 170 guests, representatives of FICIL and 10 chambers of commerce, attended the Joint Chamber Dinner with the new Prime Minister Maris Kučinskis on April 20. Among his key priorities is attracting foreign investment more proactively, ensuring predictable tax system, fighting the shadow economy and following through the reforms in education and healthcare sectors.

 
 
Highlighting Latvia`s success stories and people

On Friday, April 15th during the 3rd Annual Human Development Award of Latvia at the Latvian National Library, inspirational people and winners of the Human Development Award 2016 were announced: Zigmunds Zaļenko, Accenture Latvia, Children's Palliative Care Society and TechHub Riga Co-founder Andris Berzins.

Make What's Next is part of Microsoft's global initiative encouraging young female talent to consider ICT as a future career path. The event featured three women leaders who spoke on their career development and a fun coding exercise.

 
 
Good will charity days

as part of the Good Will Charity Days initiative, Microsoft Latvia organized a "Beach Volley Training Day" for 30 children aged 6-16 of SOS Children Villages in Latvia.

Economic impact of insolvency abuse reaches EUR 665 million

On April 6, FICIL presented its Insolvency Abuse Report that FICIL carried out in cooperation with Deloitte. The report analyses the main indicators of insolvency abuse, its impact on the economy and the resulting losses to the society.

 
 
Who is the best public speaker among Prime Ministers?

Skrivanek Baltic just presented a study "Language Police" about the language culture of 13 Prime Ministers of Latvia. Ivars Godmanis received the highest score, followed by Valdis Dombrovskis and Einars Repse.

Welcome to our April newsletter. This has been a super busy month for AmCham. We held the Human Development Award to honor inspirational people and organizations. Over 170 people attended the joint chamber dinner with the new Prime Minister. Other events included the Business and Talent Forum to discuss the millennial generation as a workforce and the Meet New Members event which offered the chance to get to know the member companies which have joined AmCham during the past year and a presentation and networking session led by famous etiquette expert Irma Kalnina.
