AmCham commends healthcare professionals for dealing with COVID-19
On May 14, AmCham sent a letter to the Ministry of Health thanking and commending Latvian healthcare professionals for their work during this time of unprecedented crisis, successfully containing the spread of the coronavirus in Latvia. The Chamber has emphasized before and continue to call for allocating more funding to the healthcare sector to address the immediate challenges, including ensuring proper wages to medical personnel, essential infrastructure and equipment for healthcare professionals and applicable digital solutions.

How to organize work from home?
In a recently conducted membership survey members revealed how they are dealing with legal aspects of remote work from our member company perspective. Three main areas were highlighted: work conditions, well-being of employees and legal aspects. 56% of members admitted that there should be immediate revisions in the labor legislation related to remote work.

The healthcare work group discussed an online event on personal protective equipment, webinar with healthcare professionals, the next steps related to the Oncology data project as well as AmCham’s participation in the work groups of the Ministry of Health.

On April 29 Priva and Aranet (brand of SAF Tehnika) have entered into an exclusive partnership to enable integrated wireless technology in greenhouses. The growing interest in data and with that, the growing demand for more and new sensors to generate data is the main driver of the collaboration between Aranet and Priva. With this partnership, both parties want to bridge the gap between wireless sensors platforms and other data sources in greenhouses.

Residential market heading for a slowdown
According to CBRE Baltics Baltic Residential Marketview 2019/2020, growth in residential markets in the Baltics most likely will slow down in 2020 due to the state of emergency as almost all new construction work has been postponed. Housing affordability in Riga remains the highest among the Baltic capitals, a record held since mid 2015.

Citadele supports frontline professionals
During the first 24 hours, clients of Citadele bank have already donated 1,300 hot meals for frontline professionals, which have doubled to 2,600 meals. In addition, Citadele bank made a donation in amount of 10,000 EUR to provide meals for frontline medical professionals.
