On March 7, more than 90 members and guests joined the AmCham Annual General Meeting (AGM) to review the past year’s activities and elect the Board of Directors. The AGM was joined by the U.S. Ambassador to Latvia.
After the AGM was opened by AmCham President John Tully, Ambassador Robinson offered introductory remarks. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Robinson emphasized the importance of economic security in Latvia’s overall security posture. The Ambassador praised AmCham for its support in encouraging Latvia’s adoption of de-risking and energy strategies that would make it easier for foreign investors to gain access to banking services and make it clear to the private sector how they can invest in Latvia’s energy sector.
After the Ambassador's remarks, AmCham President presented the main vision and goals of the Chamber for the future. In the coming year, AmCham will be focusing on continuing to foster trade and investment between the U.S. and Latvia, improving the business and investment climate, and enhancing Latvia’s human capital.
AmCham Vice Presidents Ieva Racenaja, Roberts Melbardis, Pauls Miklasevics and Liene Dubava presented the past year's highlights in the areas of advocacy, programs, membership, finances and communication. AmCham membership elected Orients Audit & Finance as the Auditor for 2024.
AmCham Vice President Liene Dubava (Nasdaq) stepped down from the Board due to term limits after 6 years of service. Board member Kerli Vares (Luminor) stepped down after one year and is not seeking re-election for the next term. AmCham President thanked Liene and Kerli for their contributions and leadership during their service. While John Tully (MikroTik) and Rauls Velins (Roche) stepped down from the Board position as their current terms have ended, both have put forward their candidacies for the next term along with 5 members - Indars Ascuks (Nasdaq), Edgars Bergholcs (Baltijas Elektro Sabiedriba), Tamer Cigeroglu (ATU), Indra Kimmele (Luminor), and Guntars Krols (EY) - all running for their first term. There are four open vacancies to be filled.
Following the presentation of the candidates, the voting took place. Due to a tie vote, the Board was not elected in the first round of election. The second round of voting will take place immediately via electronic voting. The election results will be announced on March 15. If the 2nd round will result in a tie again, the candidates receiving simple majority will be considered elected. The election will then continue in the 3rd round, in which only those candidates who have not obtained the majority in the 2nd round will participate. The election will continue in further rounds until the Board is elected in full composition.
AmCham provides S3 a great opportunity to connect with business community.
