The October luncheon featured the new US Ambassador to Latvia, Nancy Bikoff Pettit. About 60 members and guests gathered at the luxurious Grand Palace Hotel to hear the Ambassador’s remarks on her top priorities for strengthening the US-Latvia bilateral relations.

The Ambassador stressed the necessity to continue raising public awareness of TTIP. She said that an agreement “will lower barriers and costs for Latvian exporters” which will be “especially significant for the small and medium enterprises that dominate the Latvian economy".

She noted that a particular focus will be put on supporting and promoting innovation, entrepreneurs and small businesses: “Success begets success: good ideas draw attention and can catalyze even greater trade and investment. Entrepreneurs can be an important force for economic development, and they deserve our recognition and support.”

The Ambassador emphasized that Latvia is a friend, partner and close ally to the United States and that she will work toward deepening economic relations between the two countries.

The AmCham community warmly welcomed the new Ambassador to Latvia and presented her the Certificate of Honorary Chairmanship.
