U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State visits Latvia

On May 17 the AmCham Board met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Benjamin Ziff. Among topics discussed were the business and investment climate and attraction of American investments, AmCham’s priorities for this year, outlook for TTIP, efficiency in the public sector and anti-corruption measures.

From May 8-May 13 representatives of 35 American Chambers of Commerce from Europe met in Washington, DC and Minneapolis for a series of high-level meetings on cross-sectoral issues such as TTIP and wider transatlantic economic relations.

 
 
Latvia & the U.S.: building bridges across a changing landscape

On 26 May, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, organized a presentation of the book and public discussion on Latvia-US cooperation in the realms of security and defense. The book contains an article on "TTIP on the Horizon" by Liga Smildzina-Bertulsone.

Lina Karklina has been appointed the Interim Executive Director of AmCham Latvia. Lina will be responsible for all AmCham activities, the AmCham office on a daily basis and an ongoing support to the Board of Directors.

Economic impact of insolvency abuse reaches EUR 665 million

On April 6, FICIL presented its Insolvency Abuse Report that FICIL carried out in cooperation with Deloitte. The report analyses the main indicators of insolvency abuse, its impact on the economy and the resulting losses to the society.

 
 
Who is the best public speaker among Prime Ministers?

Skrivanek Baltic just presented a study "Language Police" about the language culture of 13 Prime Ministers of Latvia. Ivars Godmanis received the highest score, followed by Valdis Dombrovskis and Einars Repse.

Work from anywhere!

For the fifth time in Latvia the "Work from anywhere!" day took place on May 27 at 13:00 at the square of Latvian National Museum of Art. The aim of the event is to spread the word about flexible approach to work, to highlight its advantages, as well as to provide tips on the best ways how to organize such a workstyle.
