Over 1100 people celebrate U.S. Independence Day

More than 1100 guests attended a picnic to celebrate the 243rd Anniversary of U.S. Independence. The festive event was fulfilled with American traditions, food, music and various activities and was organized by AmCham for the fourth consecutive year. Watch the video!

 
 
The role of the private sector in tackling corruption

On July 2, AmCham members met with Jekabs Straume, the Chief of Anti-Corruption Agency (KNAB) of Latvia. Mr. Straume presented the current priorities of KNAB and discussed how the private sector can assist tackling corruption. Presentation is available here

Latvia – a study and career destination

As a follow-up to the launch of our position on talent attraction, AmCham, Spire Baltic and ERDA co-hosted a discussion with representatives from academia, business, state and municipal agencies to raise awareness about Latvia as a career and study destination. Participants agreed that along with elimination of bureaucratic obstacles, it is necessary to improve study and living conditions that will help retain students as qualified specialists in the Latvian labor market even after their studies.

 
 
Engaging stakeholders in healthcare issues

The AmCham Healthcare working group met to discuss its vision and mission as well as certain pilot projects it will recommend health stakeholders to pursue. The meeting was attended by Ruta Pumputiene, Chair of Local American Working Group of AmCham Lithuania who shared best practices in advocating for greater transparencty in the health sector.

 
 
Labor Force WG sets plans for new season

The Labor force working group met to reflect on the latest activities and set out plans for the new season, namely an Outlook discussion on AmCham recommendations on talent attraction.

airBaltic successfully places a 200 mln EUR bond issue

airBaltic successfully placed a 200 million euro issue 6.75 percent 5-year bonds becoming the largest corporate bond issue originating from Latvia at the end of July. The transaction was well received by the international and local investor community resulting in a final allocation to more than 100 investors from 25 countries and the demand for the securities exceeded supply.

 
 
Baltic-American Dialogue program open for applications

Public organizations (all NGO sector) are invited to apply for Baltic-American Dialogue program to receive financial support up to 10 000 USD to host speakers from the U.S. to travel to Baltics. Applicant organizations are encouraged to design projects and invite experts to address the interests of their unique constituencies. Application deadline is February 1. Apply here!
