U.S.-Baltic Business Summit encourages greater trade and investment
The U.S. - Baltic Business Summit was a historical event held on April 3 in Washington D.C. One of the panel discussions "Impact of U.S. Investment in the Baltics" was moderated by Arnis Kakulis, Director of the Baltic Region for AECOM and President of AmCham Latvia. The business forum focused on priority areas for U.S.-Baltic partnership including the digital economy, energy, infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

New President for AmCham
The Board of Directors has unanimously selected Arnis Kakulis as AmCham President and Chairman of the Board. Since 2013 he has served on the Board in the roles of President and Vice President.

Eriks Eglitis resigns from the Board
Eriks Eglitis resigned from the AmCham Board and Presidency on April 4 due to accepting the position of the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economics.

On 11 April, Valmieras Stikla Škiedra celebrated the launch of the new P-D VALMIERA GLASS USA Corp. plant in Dublin, Georgia. The company has invested more than 100 million USD and created over 500 new jobs in the U.S. becoming historically largest Latvian investment project in the United States.

54 421 EUR collected for the Alliance against Corruption
The Alliance against Corruption in Latvia has received 54 421 EUR of which 6500 euro have been contributed by 3 members of AmCham. The goal is to raise 60 000 euro by April 30th and 126 000 euro by mid-June.

#Refuse the straw
Radisson Hotels in Riga celebrated Earth Day on April 22 together with more than a billion people across the globe with an aim to fundamentally change people's attitude and behavior towards plastic. To focus consumer attention on the issue of plastic straws and their effects on the environment, hotels took measures to raise consumer awareness that includes displays and signage in public areas, with the tagline #RefuseTheStraw.
