Good deeds to promote sports

Aug 01, 2016
The companies forming Valmiera Glass Group, namely, JSC „Valmieras stikla šķiedra” and Valmiera Glass UK Ltd., have for a long time played a major role in the life of their „home” cities, not only by providing jobs for local residents, but also by taking part in social events and by supporting important processes.

JSC „Valmieras stikla šķiedra” provides financial support to the Valmiera Football Club, the basketball club „Vidzeme” and the Award of the State President in Athletics, as well as to the organization of the volleyball championship „Valmiera Beach”. The company provides grants to chemistry and natural science teachers in Latvia, as well as financial support to various other events. Valmiera Glass UK Ltd. supports the Sherborne Museum Association, Yaetman Hospital, Sherborne Castle Country Fair, as well as the organization „Sherborn Douzelage”.

The group’s policy of sponsorship is based on long-term cooperation and development, as well as projects that promote and include the values of the company. The support is directed to football and basketball related activities for young people of the local community, cultural events, as well as education of the representatives our business sector.

Sandis Bukšs, the manager of the basketball club „Vidzemes Augstskola/Valmiera Glass”: „The support we receive from JSC „Valmieras stikla šķiedra” is very important for the club. This cooperation stimulates growth and offers young people a chance to show themselves in the basketball-related world on a whole new level. We are able to provide more professional training sessions and improved practical conditions for students and young people, and it starts to bring the fi rst results. Of course, there is still work to do, but I’m confident that we are on the right path. The cooperation with the company is very professional and successful. We are content that we are able to grow and work together, so as to promote the names of both organisations in Latvia and abroad, and to jointly achieve victories both on and off the basketball court.”

Inga Apsīte, chairwoman of the Valmiera Football Club: „We highly value the support provided by JSC „Valmieras stikla šķiedra”: it gives us an opportunity to develop the infrastructure of the club. Last year we proposed a project, and this year we have started refurbishment works on the territory. In the coming years we plan to renovate the buildings of the club area. We supplement the backup equipment pool on a regular basis, and that allows us to provide quality training sessions. We buy sportswear for kids. The adult team members are proud to be part of the Valmiera Glass football team. Several players with corresponding professional skills have taken the opportunity to become employees of the company. It provides a significant motivation for the rest of the team to study and play football with the goal of growth in the future.”
