Mentor Latvia grows in scale and impact

Nov 05, 2014

The mentoring program Mentor Latvija has been running successfully in Latvia with SEB bank's support since 2011. Thanks to the substantial practical and financial support from SEB bank and the active involvement of SEB employees in Mentoring program and Parental support program, they have been able to grow in both scale and impact.

In addition, SEB has supported Mentor Latvia by providing lunches during the SEB Open events and representational gifts for the youth as prizes and thank you gifts to their guest speakers. By participating in the Mentor Program, the youth acquire a trustworthy friend; learn how to communicate better and set higher goals, overall minimizing the risks of substance abuse. Mentor, however, develops the necessary skills  communicating, counseling, problem-solving skills to become a better manager in their workplace.

Mentor Latvia is a non-governmental organization that aims to prevent drug and substance abuse amongst disadvantaged youth by providing them with social, job and career mentoring services. Most of the youth come from orphanages and are ages 15-18 years old. After they apply, they are paired up with an adult mentor whom they meet twice a month to pursue a healthy lifestyle through various activities and regular get-togethers. In addition Mentor Latvia offers parental support program.
