McHappy Day takes place in all McDonald's restaurants

McHappy Day takes place in all McDonald's restaurants in Latvia whole November. The aim of this day is to provide health care for children in remote regions of Latvia. All you need to do is buy a special McHappy Day charity pin (1.50 EUR) in any of McDonald's restaurants.

AmCham hosted a discussion in Thought Leaders series with Ed Kemmick, an experienced U.S. media representative who shared highlights from his long and successful career in printed publications to starting and managing online-only newspaper "Last Best News". During an open discussion the impact of the U.S. Midterm Elections was also addressed.

Members of the Labor Force Working Group came together for the 5th meeting to discuss next steps addressing the growing need for qualified labor. Among possible solutions liberalizing immigration, supporting remigration and increasing good corporate culture between employers and employees were proposed. It was decided to explore conducting a survey among members on these important topics.

AmCham together with TeamLead hosted a training devoted to the development and management of successful teams. Members had the chance to get an insight into functioning of their teams, study strategies in handling change and conflict effectively, and identify steps to increase synergy of their unique teams. After an interactive lecture, most of the participants attended a more focused workshop to learn how to put the newly gained knowledge into practice.

US business concerned over EU digital tax proposal

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU are concerned that the EU and individual member states may be moving towards adoption of a proposed Digital Services Tax.

Over 50 AmCham members enjoyed a fabulous networking event hosted by Accenture Latvia at their new Teo office. Members were offered an insight into company's main markets and structure. Members had a chance to learn how Agile project management approach enables Accenture to grow even faster and smarter.
