Encouraging a culture of philanthropy

At the beginning of 2023, AmCham would like to initiate a discussion among members about the current donation policy and incentives in Latvia that would encourage a culture of philanthropy. Reaton organizes culinary school for children of SOS Children's Villages

This holiday season Reaton Food and Delicatessen organized a cooking school for young professionals who would like to contribute to the development of the Baltic culinary culture thus supporting SOS Children's Villages in the Baltics. In addition to organizing a cooking school, they have chosen one of the Christmas Charity Cards created by the kids and youngsters who live in the SOS Children’s Villages with the help of artists who support them. You are welcome to choose one yourself in SOS Children's Villages Charity Shop.

On December 13, Healthcare work group members held a hybrid work group meeting to look back at the current year's achievements and set priority areas for the next year covering health data, value-based healthcare and healthcare financing. The  work group decided to organize an event for AmCham members to explain the healthcare projects and a round of meetings with politicians. It was also decided to look into organizing a communication campaign on healthcare issues.

MikroTik's humanitarian aid to Ukraine exceeds €300 000

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, MikroTik has provided more than €300,000 worth network equipment as part of its humanitarian support to Ukraine. This includes setting up network connections in bomb shelters and crisis centers in Ukraine, as well as refugee facilities in Poland and Romania.

Survey on change management and crisis prevention

AmCham member Anita Gaile along with experts Jānis Gredzens, Ieva Zaumane, and Ojārs Stūre, are joining forces to investigate what organizational practices are in the change and crisis management area. The results of the survey will allow better-informed conclusions and judgments about the status of change and crisis management in companies. Through this research, experts would like to encourage purposeful management of change to prevent crises. Please fill out the survey by December 31 HERE.

Accenture program SheGoesTech receives Platinum Mouse award

This year, the Platīna pele (Platinum Mouse) information and communication technology (ICT) industry awards were presented in six main categories, and for the first year, the Women for IT – Promoting Women’s Involvement in Digital Jobs and the IT Industry award went to Accenture for its SheGoesTech training program. The Platinum Mouse award has been presented since 2007 with the aim of highlighting the most successful digital solutions created in Latvia.

TV3 Group supports campaign "Angels over Latvia"

TV3 Group Latvia in cooperation with the Children's Hospital Foundation is organizing the charity campaign "Angels over Latvia" for the 15th time taking place from December 12, 2022 to January 31, 2023, the funds are raised for children with various health problems, who need the support for improvement of their health and quality of life. 

AmCham raises over €4300 for charities in 2022

In 2022 we raised more than EUR 4300 for charities: Bezvests.lv, Children's Hospital Foundation, Latvian Foster Family Association, Pink Train Foundation, RMHC Latvija and SOS Children’s Villages. As a result of members' donations, the charities we support will be able to promote healthy development of Latvia's children and their rights to grow up in a family environment as well as support women who are affected by breast cancer and families of missing people. Let's spread some Christmas joy and continue to support them! 

RSU joins European Open Science Cloud

Riga Stradiņš University is the first Latvian university to join the European Open Science Cloud Association with an aim to promote international cooperation in research and ensure the coordinated exchange of scientific data at a European level. At the same time, the Shared Services Centre for Higher Education and Science Information Technology, of which RSU is a founding member, was admitted to the Association as a Latvian mandate organization.

Cooperation crucial for combating corruption

On December 9, Delna in cooperation with the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau held an event entitled "Corruption – a threat to national and global security" dedicated to International Anti-Corruption Day. During the event, officials and experts discussed the fight against corruption to strengthen Latvia’s security.  During the event anti-corruption expert from the U.S. Sarah Chayes spoke on corruption as a global security threat. To revisit the event!
